Strelitzia nicolai is one of the 3 largest species of the genus Strelitzia. It reaches a height of 6 m and creates clusters of 3-3.5 m in diameter. Stems erect woody. Gray-green leaves up to 180 cm long. Its flowers are white with blue-purple tongues. Prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils and sunny or semi-shady places. Tolerates light frost.
